About Wax and Wane Studio
Wax and Wane Studio
Wax and Wane Studio is the heartfelt vision of quilter and designer Anna Brown, born from her longing to reconnect with creativity amidst life’s whirlwind. Inspired by timeless quilting traditions, lunar cycles, and ancient rune motifs, these modern quilt patterns are more than beautiful designs—they’re invitations to pause, reflect, and embrace intentional making. With bite-size projects like mini quilts and mindfulness prompts woven into each pattern, Anna crafts an experience that blends structure with freedom, inviting makers to “cast a spell on your creativity” and find balance in small, meaningful stitches.
Anna’s story is woven into every pattern: after art school, motherhood, and the pressures of daily life temporarily dimmed her creative spark, she reignited it through quilting. Wax and Wane Studio emerged as her response—to carve out a space where adulting and artistry coexist. The studio’s patterns act as little magic spells—each one a mindful, creative moment designed to help quilters of all levels decompress, dream, and reconnect with their inner maker .
Hello, Friend!
I'm Anna, the passionate mind running the show at North Star Quilt Shop. Nestled in the charming landscapes of rural Pennsylvania, I juggle this colorful world alongside my husband, and our three lively kiddos.
My journey into the vibrant realm of fabrics began in high school, where I found joy working at a cozy independent fabric shop during weekends. Surrounded by beautiful textiles, I discovered a deep love for inspiring creations with every fiber. Now, my mission is clear - to spread this infectious creativity far and wide within the quilting community.
When I'm not busy packing orders, hand-selecting fabrics, crafting engaging content, bopping around to Kate Bush and Cocteau Twins with my toddler, or weaving magic into our shop, you can find me immersed in designing quirky quilt patterns here at Wax and Wane Studio. Thanks for joining me on this whimsical adventure where every stitch tells a story!
