How to Use Blender Fabrics in a Quilt

A blender doesn't have to be the star of your fabric pull. In fact, that's often exactly what makes it useful.

Pair a subtle blender with a bold floral, geometric, or novelty print to give the eye somewhere to rest. Use one to bridge two colors that don't quite seem to belong together, or choose a tone-on-tone fabric when you want the depth of a print without adding another strong pattern.

Blenders can also be a great choice when you want something with more visual interest than a solid. Look for small-scale patterns, mottled textures, woven effects, and tonal designs that read almost like a solid from a distance but reveal more detail up close.

There aren't any hard-and-fast rules for what counts as a blender. What matters most is how the fabric works with the other fabrics around it.
